Firm History
In 2016, Diane McGaughey started her own practice in Rockville Centre, NY. With over 35 years of experience in public accounting at small, medium and large firms, she decided it was time to return to her small firm roots.
In 2017, Diane strengthened her practice by adding a partner, Ed Keaney. They worked together in a small firm over 20 years ago. After leaving that firm, Ed spent a good portion of his career as a controller and CFO in private industry. He also maintained his own tax and accounting practice during that time.
We go back to the days of Dunn & Company where we worked together. Our partnership, along with two part-time staff who were also part of the Dunn & Company family, will only improve the quality of our work and increase the efficiency of our operations.
As of January 1, 2017, we are operating as McGaughey & Keaney CPA's, LLP. We are committed to providing excellent service to our clients, by listening to you and proactively addressing your tax and accounting needs. We strive to offer our clients peace of mind at a reasonable price.
We are dedicated to building a firm based on our mutual beliefs. Our clients' financial well-being is our primary concern, and we will make every effort to assist you with your needs. Our firm is devoted to providing a healthy balanced life to our staff, while also giving back to our community.
We provide services to individuals and small businesses in a number of industries concentrated in the Long Island area. We also provide tax preparation services for individuals and businesses across the country. As businesses expand
Our Staff
Diane K. McGaughey, CPA
Diane received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting from Hofstra University in December 1980. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA and NYSSCPA's. Diane began her career as an auditor In the New York City office of Arthur Andersen & Company. In 1983 she left the city to work in a small Rockville Centre firm called Dunn & Fogarty. In 1995, the firm became Dunn & Company, and Diane became George Dunn's partner. Over the years, Dunn & Company eventually merged into Graf Repetti & Co, LLP, which then became known as MGI Repetti, LLP. MGIR subsequently merged into Citrin Cooperman & Co, LLP, where Diane was a partner until December 2015.
Over the years, Diane has served on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations in the local commumity, primarily related to education. She and her husband Charles live in Rockville Centre, and have three adult children.
Edward L. Keaney, CPA
Ed received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Adelphi University in 1991. He began his accounting career in the same year. Ed worked in public accounting for seven years with a concentration in the construction, real estate, and service industries. Part of this time was spent with Dunn & Company in the 1990's. After leaving Dunn & Company, Ed worked at Albrecht, Viggiano and Zureck & Company, PC. After leaving AVZ, Ed made a career change and worked In the private sector as a controller and CFO. His experience in private industry has provided him with great insight as to the obstacles encountered running a successful business. This experience allows him to advise and relate to other business owners and clients.
Ed is an avid sports fan. He and his wife Joanne have two children who are currently university students. They reside in Greenlawn in Suffolk county.
